Typical Gas Turbine Inlet Air Cooling
Fog cooling system basically consists of fog nozzles installed on stainless steel arrays typically placed across the section of the gas turbine inlet air ducting before or after the air filter; high-pressure stainless steel head pumps supply water from 1000 to 3000 psi (70-200 bar); pre-filter unit at pump water inlet to block big particles (bigger than 1 micron) in water; distribution feed lines to nozzle arrays from pump; multi-zone valves enable water flow regulation; motor control with variable frequency drive (VFD) to vary pump flow output; weather station and down-stream temperature and humidity sensors to measure ambient conditions and after fogging cooler air conditions; PLC fog controller to determine water flow required based on inlet and out air conditions and gas turbine output.
